Sharing Hammy with a partner

Two riders, one trainer, separate FTPs and history.

2 min readUpdated

The short version
  • One Hammy account has room for two riders, and one subscription covers both.
  • Each rider has their own FTP, workouts, rides and history. The trainer and heart rate strap are shared.
  • Switch riders from Profile or before a ride. You cannot switch in the middle of one.

One account, two riders

Hammy Pro belongs to the account, and an account holds up to two riders. So you and a partner can ride on one subscription. Use one phone, or sign in to the same account on two. Both riders appear on every device the account is signed in on.

What is separate, what is shared

What Whose
FTP and FTP history Each rider
Saved workouts Each rider
Rides, History and Plan Each rider
Apple Health and Strava Each rider
Trainer and heart rate strap Shared
Curated workouts Shared
Subscription Shared

That means your partner’s FTP is their own. Targets set as a share of FTP scale to whoever is riding, so the same workout asks for different watts from each of you. Workouts with fixed watt targets ask for the same watts from both of you.

Adding the second rider

Open Profile and choose Add a rider. A name is required. FTP, weight and age are optional. If you leave FTP empty, the rider starts with the Ramp Test on their first ride. The Ramp Test is a hard, all-out effort that ends when you can no longer keep up. Check with a doctor before you start if you have a heart or blood-pressure condition, or any other condition that limits exercise. Stop straight away and get medical help if you have chest, neck, jaw or arm pain, unusual breathlessness, dizziness or faintness. Apple Health starts off for a new rider.

Switching riders

In Hammy Switch riders in Profile

Profile shows who is riding. Choose Switch rider to pick the other rider. Before a ride, the Ready to ride? sheet names who the ride is for, with a Switch button if it is the wrong person.

You cannot switch while a ride is running. Finish or end the ride first.

Good to know

Both riders sign in with the same account, so keep that sign-in between the two of you. Rides are saved to each rider’s own history, so your partner’s hard day does not show up in your week.
